Five hours on Rhodes with a Greece Private Tours driver and two stops: 67 minutes down the east coast to Lindos for 95 minutes at the village and its acropolis, then 68 minutes back to the Old Town for an hour at the Palace of the Grand Master, 2 minutes from the cruise port. Priced per group by the 5-hour rate, the tickets paid at the gates.

Two stops and 137 minutes at the wheel: the tightest of our three Rhodes days. The route strip above gives the legs as OpenStreetMap routes them without traffic: from the cruise port 67 min and 50.2 km down the east coast to Lindos for 95 minutes; 68 min and 50.4 km back to the Old Town for 60 minutes at the Palace of the Grand Master; 2 min and 1.1 km to the quay. Eight minutes are left loose, so the day keeps its order and a late start eats into the Old Town, not into Lindos. From a hotel the first and the last leg follow the address; from a hotel in Lindos the day runs the other way, the Old Town first. The 8-hour day adds Filerimos, Kamiros and lunch; the 4-hour tour leaves Lindos out.
The acropolis was always the heart of Lindos, the Ministry’s portal says, and it stands 10 minutes on foot above the village by the portal’s count: the Doric temple of Athena Lindia of the 4th century BC, the propylaea with their monumental staircase, the Hellenistic stoa 87 metres long with 42 columns, and the walls the Knights Hospitaller raised on the Byzantine ones, with the Commandery of the governor and the church of Saint John. Ninety-five minutes cover the climb, the top and the lanes below. The ticket is 20 EUR (checked 14 Oct 2026, hh.gr), reduced 10 EUR (checked 14 Oct 2026, hh.gr), the last admission 20 minutes before closing; the portal lists a café or restaurant, a shop, WC and parking at the site, and prints these hours by period:

An hour inside the walls, on foot, with the driver waiting at their edge. The Palace of the Grand Master at the top of the Street of the Knights was the seat and the administrative centre of the Order from the early 14th century, as the portal tells it, partly destroyed by an explosion in 1856 and restored by the Italians, and is a museum today with two exhibitions on the ground floor and mosaic floors from Kos above. The ticket is 20 EUR (checked 14 Oct 2026, hh.gr), reduced 10 EUR (checked 14 Oct 2026, hh.gr); it is open daily until 20:00 from April to October and from 08:30 to 15:30 with Tuesdays closed from November to March. The walk on the fortification walls is a separate ticket, open at midday from Monday to Friday in the summer months and closed in winter; an hour is enough for the Palace or the walls, not both, and the Rhodes page prints both tables.
Both stops are Ministry sites, and inside them guiding is reserved to state-licensed guides by Law 5121/2024. Our driver drives, waits at the foot of the path and at the walls with the vehicle, and gives practical orientation: the way to the ticket desk, the time to be back, where the shade is. A licensed guide for the acropolis or the Palace is booked ahead on request and quoted with the day; the driver-or-guide guide sets the two roles side by side.
No meal stop in five hours: a table in Lindos within the 95 minutes, or in the Old Town at the end, at your own expense, with the driver waiting. Toilets are listed by the portal at both sites, with a café or restaurant and a shop at each, parking at Lindos and an elevator at the Palace. Steps and shade no official page counts: the climb to the acropolis is on foot, 10 minutes by the portal, and the Old Town is walked; the driver’s orientation at each stop covers the rest. Shoes that grip, a hat and the water in the vehicle.
The 5-hour rate card, per group: 400 EUR for up to three guests in a sedan, 500 EUR for four to seven in a minivan, which is 125 EUR a head for four and 83 EUR for six; from eight guests the rate is per person. The two tickets above are paid at the gates and not in the price, lunch and a licensed guide likewise. The site takes no payment: the office confirms by email, the driver is paid on the day.
From a ship: at the passengers’ exit of the cruise terminal at the Tourist Port, name sign up. The tour needs five hours plus the 90-minute margin before all-aboard, six and a half hours in port, printed on the card and checked by the booking form; Rhodes is a dock, so there is no tender to allow for, and the Old Town is the last stop, 2 minutes from the quay. From a hotel: at the door, anywhere on the island, and back to it. The cruise port page has the quays, the terminal and the clearance times with their sources, and the Rhodes page sets this tour beside the other two.
In Greece, guiding visitors in museums and archaeological sites is the work of state-qualified guides registered with the Ministry of Tourism (Law 5121/2024, Articles 33, 34 and 40). Our drivers are not guides: they drive, wait and give practical orientation on the road. We can book a licensed guide for you on request and quote the guide separately. How hiring a driver in Greece works
Cruise guests: at the passengers' exit of the cruise terminal at the Tourist Port, with a sign with your name. The port publishes no berth for a call, so give us the ship's name and its times.
Your driver waits at the passengers' exit of the cruise terminal at the Tourist Port (Akti Sachtouri), with a sign with your name. Cruise ships berth alongside at Rhodes, and the port's own pages name one passenger terminal and six quays across the Tourist Port and the Akandia port, but publish no berth for a call: give us the ship's name and its times when you book, and a berth away from the terminal is one message to the driver, whose phone and WhatsApp are on your confirmation.
At your hotel, anywhere on the island; the first and the last leg follow the address.
A folding wheelchair travels in the boot; tell us in the request.
Cancel free of charge up to 72 hours before the start; tell us by email or WhatsApp.
Inside the last 72 hours, or if nobody shows up, the full price is due.
Changes of date or group size are free until the same 72-hour limit.
The full wording: the cancellation policy and the booking terms.
The Ministry's portal counts 10 minutes on foot from the village to the acropolis and lists no step count, so we print none; the driver's orientation at the foot of the path covers it. Shoes that grip and water in summer.
Neither: the five hours hold Lindos and the Old Town and no meal stop. A table in Lindos village within the 95 minutes, or in the Old Town at the end, is yours to choose at your own expense; the driver waits.
Two: the acropolis of Lindos and the Palace of the Grand Master, both Ministry sites, printed above with the date we read them and paid at the gates. The walk on the walls of Rhodes has a ticket of its own and opens only from April to October, at midday on weekdays.
A call of six and a half hours: five hours plus the margin before all-aboard, checked by the booking form. The Old Town is the last stop, 2 minutes from the port.
From November to March, yes: Lindos and the Palace close every Tuesday and keep shorter hours, 08:30 to 15:30. From April to October both are open daily into the evening.
