Shore excursions from Piraeus

ΠειραιάςPiraeussaid “pee-reh-AS”cruise port

Cruise ships dock at Piraeus, the port of Athens, at one of three terminals: A Miaoulis, B Themistocles and C Alkimos. Your Greece Private Tours driver waits outside your ship's terminal with a name sign, and the Acropolis is 19 minutes away without traffic. Every excursion is private, priced per group, and planned to end before all-aboard with the margin each card prints.

Plan around your ship

Type the two times from your ship's daily programme. The list keeps the 90-minute margin before all-aboard and prints what is left to spare.

Your ship's programme has the times that count. The port publishes its own list of calls: Arrivals and departures of cruise ships at Piraeus, published by the Piraeus Port Authority (olp.gr, checked 1 Oct 2026).

Which terminal, and where does the driver wait?

Piraeus has three cruise terminals: A Miaoulis, the main one, B Themistocles and C Alkimos. Gate E11 serves Terminal A and gate E12 serves B and C; a free port shuttle brings passengers from the farther quays to the terminal building, and each terminal stands within about 50 metres of its quay. Which berth and terminal your ship gets is set for each call, and the port authority publishes the berthing schedule. Look for the driver at the exit of your ship’s terminal at the time we agree, holding a board with your name on it; the meeting-point page shows the spot. Give us the ship’s name when you book and the terminal follows from the schedule. No official source gives the walking distance from a terminal to the port gates, so we print none.

How far is the Acropolis from the ship?

19 min and 13.4 km without traffic: that is the first leg of the 4-hour highlights tour, which spends an hour and three quarters at the Acropolis, then visits the Temple of Olympian Zeus and the changing of the guard at Syntagma and returns to the terminal with 47 minutes of driving in all. Acropolis tickets are timed, a date and a one-hour entry slot, so tell us the slot you hold or ask which one fits your call; the fee, 30 EUR (checked 8 Oct 2026, hh.gr), is paid at the gate. The driver does not enter the site: inside, guiding is for state-licensed guides, and we add one on request, quoted separately.

What fits into 4, 6 and 8 hours ashore?

Add 90 minutes to any tour’s hours and you have the call it needs; every card above prints it. On the shortest calls the 4-hour highlights tour fits. With six hours and more ashore the 5-hour days open: Cape Sounion down the coast road, or Ancient Corinth and the canal. With eight hours plus the margin come the full day in Athens and the 8-hour combinations with Sounion or Corinth; Delphi at 9 hours and the Argolis at 10 need the longest calls, and Meteora, at 14 hours, fits only an overnight stay in port. If you would rather set your own stops, the car and driver by the hour takes whatever hours your call allows; the one-day-in-Athens guide works each call through hour by hour.

What does a private excursion cost per person?

The price is per vehicle, so the share falls with every extra guest: on the 4-hour highlights tour four guests pay 100 EUR each and six pay 67 EUR each; on the 5-hour Sounion day four guests pay 125 EUR each. The full days start at 700 EUR per group, and Delphi and the Argolis, longer than eight hours, take the same 8-hour table. From eight guests the rate is per person in a minibus. Entrance fees, lunch and a licensed guide are extra, paid on the day.

When should we leave the ship, and what if we are late?

Ships dock here, so there is no tender to wait for: come out as soon as the ship is cleared, and the driver is at the terminal from the time we agreed. Every day we plan ends 90 minutes before your all-aboard time; the booking form asks for the ship’s arrival and all-aboard times and refuses a tour that does not fit between them with that margin. If the road back is slow the driver shortens the last stop, not the margin. We cannot hold a ship and do not promise the return to it; what we promise is the plan above and a phone that picks up.
