Questions guests ask

The questions guests ask Greece Private Tours before a day in Santorini or Athens, answered in short: how a booking works, what the price covers, what a cruise call needs, driver or licensed guide, and what happens on the day. Every price on this page is printed from the same rate card as the tour pages, so a 4-hour tour for 3 guests costs the same here as there.

  • A cruise ship at anchor in the caldera below the cliff of Santorini
    Santorini
  • The Lion Gate of Mycenae, seen from the path leading up to it
    Mycenae
  • The White Tower of Thessaloniki on the waterfront, with a boat on the water in front of it
    Thessaloniki

Booking

How do I book?

From the tour page: choose the date, your group size and where we pick you up, see the price for your group, and send the request. Nothing is paid on the site; the office confirms by email, and you pay the driver on the day.

How much notice do you need?

24 hours before the start on the booking form; for something sooner, write to us on WhatsApp at +30 6944803339 and we say whether a driver is free.

Can I cancel?

Cancel free of charge up to 72 hours before the start; tell us by email or WhatsApp.

Inside the last 72 hours, or if nobody shows up, the full price is due.

Changes of date or group size are free until the same 72-hour limit.

Do you take a deposit?

Not on the site: no card details are asked for and nothing is charged when you send a request. The confirmation email says how the day is paid, and on our tours that is to the driver on the day.

Prices

Is the price per person or per group?

Per group up to seven guests, per person from eight. Four guests on the 4-hour Athens highlights tour pay 400 EUR together, 100 EUR each; two guests pay 300 EUR for the same vehicle and morning. The price guide prints the whole card.

What is not included?

Entrance fees, paid at the gate and printed on each tour page with the date they were checked; lunch and drinks; a wine tasting; the cable car for cruise guests on Santorini; a licensed guide; and a tip, which is a custom and never a charge.

Why are some days quoted instead of priced?

Because the rate card confirmed by the office has entries for 4, 5 and 8 hours and none yet for the 9-hour, 10-hour and 14-hour day trips or for a car by the hour in Athens; where no figure is confirmed, we print none and the office quotes by email. The same holds for the days run by request, such as the Jewish heritage day in Thessaloniki, whose guide’s fee is quoted with the day, the Jewish heritage morning in Athens, and the Pozar and Edessa day, the Vergina and Veria day and the Philippi and Kavala day and the day at three Santorini wineries and the Kassandra beach day and the Sithonia day from Thessaloniki, quoted for the party and the date.

Cruise calls

Will we be back on the ship in time?

Every cruise day we plan ends 90 minutes before all-aboard, the booking form refuses a tour that does not fit between your ship’s times with that margin, and the driver shortens the last stop if the road is slow. We cannot hold a ship and do not promise the return to it; the margin is the plan.

Where does the driver meet us at the port?

On Santorini at the exit of the cable car’s top station, or on the quay at Athinios if your ship lands you there; in Piraeus outside your ship’s terminal at the cruise terminals. In both places the driver holds a board with your name.

What if our ship lands us at Athinios?

Since 2026 a large ship lands three in ten of its guests at Athinios: tell us when you know, and the vehicle waits on the quay there instead; the day is the same. The Santorini port page has the rule with its source.

Do you arrange a day at a Turkish port?

On request: Ephesus from Kusadasi, Istanbul and Izmir, each quoted by email for the call you have, with no price or programme printed on the site. The Turkey page says what to send through the custom tour form.

Driver or licensed guide

Does the driver guide us inside the sites?

No. In Greece, guiding inside museums and archaeological sites is reserved to state-licensed guides under Law 5121/2024; our driver brings you to the entrance, waits and orients you, and a licensed guide is booked on request and quoted separately. The driver-or-guide guide explains the rule and when you need one.

Do we need a guide to visit the Acropolis?

No: a timed ticket is all the site asks. You need a guide only if you want a person explaining what you see inside; the Acropolis page has the ticket rules, the hours and the lift.

On the day

Can we change the route?

Yes, within the hours you booked: swap a stop, stay longer somewhere, skip a village. Say so in the request or tell the driver in the morning; a longer day is the next duration up.

Do you have child seats, and can a wheelchair come?

Child seats are free on request; tell us the child’s age. A folding wheelchair travels in the boot, and no vehicle has a lift or a ramp; the sites’ own access facts, the Acropolis lift among them, are on the attraction pages with their dates. The vehicles page lists the classes.

Which languages do your drivers speak?

English, on every tour, and Greek. Ask for another language when you book and the office tells you whether a driver or a licensed guide who speaks it is free for your date.

Is a tip expected?

No. It is a custom, not a rule, and no price of ours includes one; the tipping guide says who to thank, when and how, and why it prints no figure.
