What fits in eight hours on Rhodes?

Four stops, 202 minutes at the wheel and a loop through the north and the middle of the island. The route strip above gives the legs as OpenStreetMap routes them without traffic: from the cruise port 21 min and 13.6 km to Filerimos hill for 30 minutes; 47 min and 32.1 km down the west coast to Ancient Kamiros for 45; 64 min and 48.2 km across the island to Lindos for 140 minutes, the acropolis and lunch; 68 min and 50.4 km back up the east coast to the Old Town for 45 minutes at the Palace of the Grand Master; 2 min and 1.1 km to the quay. Eighteen minutes are left loose for a photo stop on the coast road. From a hotel the first and the last leg follow the address, and a hotel in Lindos turns the loop the other way. This is the 4-hour tour and the 5-hour tour joined by the west coast, with the meal that neither has time for.

Filerimos and Kamiros on the west coast

Filerimos hill above Ialysos is the acropolis of ancient Ialysos, one of the three Dorian cities of Rhodes with Lindos and Kamiros, as the Ministry’s portal tells it: the temple of Athena Polias and Zeus Polieus, medieval remains round it, and the Monastery of Filerimos, which housed the Knights Hospitaller and is an Orthodox church today. To the right of the site runs the path the portal calls the Way of Golgotha, to a stone cross 16 metres high and a view over the north-west of the island. The ticket is 10 EUR (checked 14 Oct 2026, hh.gr), reduced 5 EUR (checked 14 Oct 2026, hh.gr); the portal lists a café or restaurant, a shop, WC and accessibility, and counts 20 minutes by car from the city. Kamiros, 45 minutes from the city by the same portal, is the third of the Dorian cities: a town of the Hellenistic and Roman periods laid out on the slope towards the sea, destroyed by the great earthquake of 227 or 226 BC and rebuilt on a larger scale, with its agora and its houses in what the portal calls well-preserved ruins. The ticket is 10 EUR (checked 14 Oct 2026, hh.gr), the amenities a shop, WC and parking, and the hours as the portal prints them:

Lindos: the acropolis and lunch by the sea

The long stop of the day: 140 minutes at Lindos, where the acropolis stands 10 minutes on foot above the village by the portal’s count. Up there, in the portal’s words, the Doric temple of Athena Lindia of the 4th century BC, the propylaea with their monumental staircase, the Hellenistic stoa of 87 metres and 42 columns, and the fortification walls the Knights Hospitaller strengthened round the Byzantine ones, with the Commandery and the church of Saint John. The ticket is 20 EUR (checked 14 Oct 2026, hh.gr), reduced 10 EUR (checked 14 Oct 2026, hh.gr), the last admission 20 minutes before closing. Lunch is here, after the climb, at a table in the village or down by the water at your own expense, with the driver waiting; the portal lists a café or restaurant, a shop, WC and parking at the site. Tell us if you would rather eat later, in the Old Town, and the minutes move with it.

The Old Town at the end of the day

Forty-five minutes at the Palace of the Grand Master, the seat of the Knights built in the early 14th century, blown up in part in 1856 and rebuilt by the Italians in the early 20th century, as the portal tells it, with two exhibitions on ancient and medieval Rhodes on the ground floor and mosaic floors from Kos upstairs. The ticket is 20 EUR (checked 14 Oct 2026, hh.gr), the Palace is open daily until 20:00 from April to October, and the portal lists a café or restaurant, a shop, WC, WiFi, an elevator and accessibility there. The driver leaves you at the edge of the walls and waits with the vehicle while you walk the Street of the Knights to the Palace and back; the Old Town is the last stop because it is 2 min and 1.1 km from the quay, so a cruise guest ends the day beside the ship. The walk on the walls has its own ticket at midday on weekdays in the summer months; the Rhodes page prints both tables.

A driver drives, a licensed guide guides

Four of the stops are sites of the Ministry of Culture, and inside them guiding is the work of state-licensed guides under Law 5121/2024. Our driver drives, waits at every gate with the vehicle and gives practical orientation; the stories inside the Palace or on the acropolis of Lindos are a licensed guide’s, booked ahead on request and quoted with the day. The driver-or-guide guide explains the rule.

Steps, shade, toilets and lunch

Lunch is settled above: Lindos, after the acropolis. Toilets are listed by the portal at all four sites, a café or restaurant at Filerimos, Lindos and the Palace, and an elevator at the Palace. Steps and shade no official page describes, so no figure is printed: the climb to the acropolis of Lindos is on foot and the portal counts 10 minutes of it, and the Old Town is walked; the driver’s orientation at each stop covers where the vehicle waits, how far the walk is, where the steps and the shade are. Walking shoes, a hat and the bottled water in the vehicle for the summer.

What does the full day cost for our group?

The 8-hour day reads the 8-hour table of the rate card, as the ticket prints it: 700 EUR per group for up to three guests, 800 EUR for four to seven, which is 200 EUR a head for four, and per person from eight; the form shows your total, and nothing is paid until the office confirms it by email. Paid at the gates and not in the price: the four tickets printed above with their dates, lunch, and a licensed guide if you ask for one. The price guide prints the rate card by hours and party size.

Where do we meet, and does it fit a cruise call?

At the passengers’ exit of the cruise terminal at the Tourist Port, with a sign with your name, or at your hotel anywhere on the island. From a ship the day needs a call of eight hours plus the 90-minute margin before all-aboard, nine and a half hours in port, which the card prints and the form checks; on a shorter call the 5-hour or the 4-hour tour is the answer. Rhodes is a dock with one passenger terminal and no anchorage, by the port’s own pages, so there is no tender to allow for; the cruise port page has the quays, the clearance times and the Fund’s berth rule with their sources.

Driver or licensed guide

In Greece, guiding visitors in museums and archaeological sites is the work of state-qualified guides registered with the Ministry of Tourism (Law 5121/2024, Articles 33, 34 and 40). Our drivers are not guides: they drive, wait and give practical orientation on the road. We can book a licensed guide for you on request and quote the guide separately. How hiring a driver in Greece works

Where we meet you

ΡόδοςRhodes cruise portcruise or ferry port

Cruise guests: at the passengers' exit of the cruise terminal at the Tourist Port, with a sign with your name. The port publishes no berth for a call, so give us the ship's name and its times.

Your driver waits at the passengers' exit of the cruise terminal at the Tourist Port (Akti Sachtouri), with a sign with your name. Cruise ships berth alongside at Rhodes, and the port's own pages name one passenger terminal and six quays across the Tourist Port and the Akandia port, but publish no berth for a call: give us the ship's name and its times when you book, and a berth away from the terminal is one message to the driver, whose phone and WhatsApp are on your confirmation.

Your hotel or villa

At your hotel, anywhere on the island; the first and the last leg follow the address.

Walking and access

A folding wheelchair travels in the boot; tell us in the request.

Cancellation, in plain words

Cancel free of charge up to 72 hours before the start; tell us by email or WhatsApp.

Inside the last 72 hours, or if nobody shows up, the full price is due.

Changes of date or group size are free until the same 72-hour limit.

Questions guests ask

Where is lunch on the full day?

At Lindos, within the 140 minutes planned there, at a table in the village or by the sea at your own expense; the driver waits with the vehicle.

Do we pay four tickets?

Four of the stops are Ministry sites with a ticket each: Filerimos, Kamiros, the acropolis of Lindos and the Palace of the Grand Master. The tickets above print the figures with the date we read them; they are paid at the gates, not to us, and the free days of the Ministry apply.

Can cruise guests take the full day?

On a call of nine and a half hours or more: eight hours plus the margin before all-aboard, which the booking form checks. On a shorter call the 5-hour or the 4-hour tour fits.

Is the price per group or per person?

Per group up to seven guests, on the 8-hour table the ticket prints: one figure for up to three in a sedan, another for four to seven in a minivan; from eight guests it is per person in a minibus. The booking form shows the total for your number, and nothing is paid until the office confirms by email.

Can we change the order of the stops?

Yes, inside the eight hours. From November to March the four sites close at 15:30 and every Tuesday, so the driver may put the Old Town first and Lindos after; say what matters most to you and the minutes move with it.
