What fits in four hours?

Three stops with 47 min of driving in all without traffic, routed on OpenStreetMap from the cruise terminals at Piraeus: 19 min and 13.4 km to the Acropolis, where we plan an hour and three quarters; 8 min and 2.1 km to the Temple of Olympian Zeus, half an hour; 3 min and 1.2 km to Syntagma Square, 20 minutes for the Parliament and the changing of the guard; then 17 min and 13.6 km back to the ship. That leaves about 40 minutes for the walk up from the drop-off and the ticket checks. From a hotel in the centre of Athens the first leg is 7 min and 3 km, and the morning ends at the hotel. What does not fit: the Acropolis Museum, the stadium, Plaka and lunch, which are the full day.

The Acropolis: the ticket, the climb and the lift

The ticket is 30 EUR (checked 8 Oct 2026, hh.gr) full and 15 EUR (checked 8 Oct 2026, hh.gr) reduced, paid at the gate or bought in the official online shop for a chosen date and a one-hour entry slot; it is used once, with no re-entry after you leave, and a slot can be changed up to two hours before the visit, at most twice. The Acropolis is the first stop, so a slot that opens about half an hour after your pickup fits; tell us the slot you hold or let us name one in the confirmation. The way up is a climb on foot, and the Ephorate recommends walking shoes; a lift for visitors with mobility difficulties runs from a separate entrance north of the main one after a phone call to the guards’ office, and the toilets beside the main entrance are the ones to use, since those inside the site were closed for renovation on 21 September 2026. The Temple of Olympian Zeus and Syntagma

The Olympieion has its own ticket, 20 EUR (checked 8 Oct 2026, hh.gr) full and 10 EUR (checked 8 Oct 2026, hh.gr) reduced, timed in the same way; it opens at 08:00 and closes at 20:00 in high summer and at 15:00 from November to March. The site is wheelchair accessible for the most part through the main entrance on Vasilissis Olgas Avenue, with accessible toilets, tactile site plans and Braille brochures at the ticket office; the area around Hadrian’s Gate was closed to the public during the avenue works, by a notice of 1 April 2026. At Syntagma the guard in front of the Parliament is watched from the square, and there is nothing to pay.

Driver or licensed guide?

Our driver brings you to each entrance, waits with the vehicle and tells you where to come back to and how long you have; the driver does not enter the sites, because guiding inside archaeological sites and museums is the work of state-licensed guides under Law 5121/2024. A licensed guide for the Acropolis is booked in advance on request and quoted with the morning.

Steps, shade, toilets and lunch

Steps: the Acropolis is a climb, with the lift above for those who need it. Toilets: beside the Acropolis’s main entrance and inside the Olympieion. Shade: no official page states it, so ask your driver, and carry the bottled water from the vehicle. Lunch is not planned into four hours; if you would rather eat than see the guard, say so when you book and the last stop becomes lunch at your own expense, with the driver waiting and the minutes coming out of the four hours.

What does it cost for our group?

300 EUR for up to three guests in a sedan and 400 EUR for four to seven in a minivan: 100 EUR each for four, 57 EUR each for seven; from eight guests the rate is per person in a minibus, as the table above prints it from the office’s rate card. Nothing is paid on the site; the office confirms by email and you pay the driver on the day. Extra and paid at the gate: the two tickets, anything you eat, and a licensed guide if you ask for one.

Where do we meet?

Outside your ship’s terminal at the Piraeus cruise terminals, where the driver holds a sign with your name, or in the lobby of your Athens hotel at the agreed time.
