Where do we watch the sunset in Oia?

From the caldera side of the village, which faces west over the water: the sun goes down into the sea, and every lane and terrace on that side sees it. We name no single viewpoint, because no official source publishes one and the good spots move with the crowd; your driver shows you one on the way in, and the lanes cost nothing.

What time is the sunset?

13 min and 10 km from the top of the Fira cable car on the road along the rim, 25 min and 22 km from the ferry port at Athinios and 21 min and 17 km from the airport, without traffic and routed on OpenStreetMap. The lanes are for walking, so the vehicle stops at the edge of the village, the driver names the spot to come back to and waits there; the 4-hour tour plans 45 minutes in Oia, the 5-hour tour 40 and the full day an hour, and on the car and driver by the hour you stay as long as you like. Sunset from land or from a boat?

Can we see the sunset on a private tour?

Yes, two ways. The private sunset tour is three hours built around that day’s sunset time, ending at a winery on the caldera rim rather than in Oia, so the last glass has the view. For the sunset in Oia itself, book the car and driver by the hour for the late afternoon, or ask for the 5-hour tour to run in reverse and end in Oia; the route is adjusted within its hours. A cruise call rarely lasts into the evening, so for cruise guests Oia is a daytime stop.

Steps, toilets and shade in Oia

No official page states the steps in the lanes, the public toilets or the shade at midday, so we print nothing: ask your driver, who tells you where the toilets are and which lanes climb. The vehicle is air-conditioned with bottled water in it, and it waits at the edge of the village.
