What fits in four hours?

Four stops, with about an hour and a half on the road between them without traffic. From the top of the cable car it is 13 min and 10.8 km to Oia, where we plan 45 minutes on foot. Firostefani comes next on the way back towards Fira, a 15-minute photo stop at the blue-domed church. Then Pyrgos and the road up to the Prophet Elias monastery, the highest point of the island, with 20 minutes for the view. The last stop is your choice on the day: 40 minutes at the black sand of Perissa, or a winery instead. The return to the top station is 21 min and 17 km. Akrotiri, Red Beach and Perivolos do not fit in four hours; they are on the 5-hour tour, and the full day adds lunch and longer stops.

What does the driver do while we walk?

Waits with the vehicle. At each stop the driver drops you as close as the road allows, tells you where to come back to and how long you have, and stays with the car until you return; there is no group to keep up with and no headset. Drivers drive, wait and give practical orientation. They do not guide inside museums or archaeological sites, which is the work of state-licensed guides under Law 5121/2024, and none of these four stops needs one.

Steps, shade, toilets and lunch

We print only what we have checked. For cruise guests the climb comes before the tour: the cable car or the 587 steps from the old port up to Fira, the port authority’s own count. None of the four stops charges an entrance fee, so there are no timed tickets to buy. For the steps in the lanes, the shade at midday and the nearest toilets at each stop, ask your driver; that practical orientation is part of the job, and the vehicle is air-conditioned with bottled water in it. Lunch is not planned into four hours. If you would rather eat than swim, say so when you book: the last stop becomes lunch at your own expense, the driver waits, and the time comes out of the four hours.

What does it cost for our group?

The price is for the vehicle and the driver, not per person: 300 EUR for up to three guests in a sedan and 400 EUR for four to seven in a minivan, which is 100 EUR each for four and 57 EUR each for seven; from eight guests the rate is per person in a minibus. The table above is printed from the office’s rate card, and the price guide shows the same card for every duration. Not in the price: a cable car ticket for cruise guests at 10 EUR (checked 8 Oct 2026, santorinicablecar.gr) one way, the tasting if you choose the winery, and anything you eat or drink. Nothing is paid on the site: you send a request, the office confirms by email, and you pay the driver on the day.

Where do we meet the driver?

At your hotel or villa; at the exit of the cable car’s top station if you come by cruise ship; on the quay at Athinios if you arrive by ferry or your ship lands you there; or in the arrivals area of the airport. The driver holds a sign with your name. Cruise guests: take an early tender and give us the ship’s arrival and all-aboard times, because the day ends with a margin before all-aboard; the cruise port page explains the two landing points and the cable-car guide the queue; the one-day-in-Santorini guide fits these four hours into a call.

Driver or licensed guide

In Greece, guiding visitors in museums and archaeological sites is the work of state-qualified guides registered with the Ministry of Tourism (Law 5121/2024, Articles 33, 34 and 40). Our drivers are not guides: they drive, wait and give practical orientation on the road. We can book a licensed guide for you on request and quote the guide separately. Questions guests ask

Is hotel pickup included?

Yes. Pickup and drop-off at your hotel or villa are included, as are the top station of the Fira cable car for cruise guests, Athinios port and the airport.

Half day or full day?

Four hours covers Oia, Firostefani, Pyrgos with the Prophet Elias viewpoint and a beach or a winery. Akrotiri, Red Beach and a lunch stop need the 5-hour or the 8-hour tour.

Do we need a licensed guide?

Not for these four stops: none is a museum or an archaeological site. Your driver gives practical orientation; a state-licensed guide can be added on request for Akrotiri on the longer tours.

Can cruise guests take this tour?

Yes, when the call is long enough for the four hours plus the margin we keep before all-aboard. Take one of the first tenders; the driver waits at the top station of the cable car with a sign.

Is the wine tasting included?

No. The winery is an alternative to the beach as the last stop, and the tasting is paid at the winery.
