Which vehicle takes a group of twenty, or of fifty?

A coach for 20 to 50 guests, for your party only and nobody else, with one of our own Athens drivers at the wheel: the largest of the four bands the vehicles page lists, with 55 seats, and the request form names it from the number you type. This tour is sold from 20 guests, where the coach band begins, to 50. A party of 8 to 19 travels in a minibus on the 8-hour private tour of Athens, priced per person from eight on the 8-hour table; a party of 7 or fewer books one of the fixed Athens tours in a sedan or a minivan, or the car and driver by the hour; and a party above 50 asks through the travel agents and groups page, where the office quotes it.

How is the price worked out, and when is it final?

Per person, from 20 guests, at the figure on the ticket above, which comes from the rate card the office confirmed; the price guide prints that card with its date. The request form multiplies the figure by your party, so you see the total before you send, and the office answers by email with the programme and the price for your size before anything is paid. One thing is not published yet, and this page says so rather than guess: a fixed programme, which is why the office agrees it with you. Nothing is paid on this site, cancellation is free until 72 hours before the start, entrance fees are paid per person at the gates, and a licensed guide is quoted separately.

Where does the coach go?

Where the group decides, within 8 hours from the pickup to the drop-off, waiting included: no fixed route is published for this tour yet, so the office agrees the programme with you, and the fixed Athens days on this site are the measure of what the hours hold. The drive times here are routed on OpenStreetMap without traffic for a car, so a coach on the city streets needs at least as long. From the cruise terminals it is 19 min and 13 km to the Acropolis and 18 min and 13 km to Syntagma Square; from a hotel at Syntagma, 7 min and 3 km to the Acropolis and 3 min and 2 km to the Temple of Olympian Zeus. The six stops of our full day in Athens, from the Acropolis to Lycabettus Hill, fit 8 hours with 64 min at the wheel from the terminals, and the 4-hour highlights tour holds the first three of them. Out of the city, the Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion is 1 h 14 min and 67 km from Syntagma down the coast road, and the Corinth canal 1 h 12 min and 78 km the other way; either fills the afternoon of a group day after a morning in the centre, as our Athens and Sounion day and our Corinth and Athens day do in 8 hours with a car.

What happens at the Acropolis with forty people?

Each guest holds a ticket of their own: 30 EUR (checked 8 Oct 2026, hh.gr) per person, reduced to 15 EUR (checked 8 Oct 2026, hh.gr) for EU citizens over 65 from October to May, free for children up to 18 from outside the EU and for EU citizens up to 25 with an ID, and free for a licensed guide from Greece. Every ticket is for a chosen date and a one-hour entry slot and is used once, sold online by the official shop or at the ticket offices on site, with the last entry 20 minutes before closing, so the programme fixes the hour at the Acropolis first and lays the rest of the day around it. The way up from the main entrance is a climb on foot in walking shoes; a lift for guests with mobility difficulties leaves from a separate entrance north of the main one, reached by a path of about 350 m, after a phone call to the guards’ office, and it does not run in strong wind. The toilets are beside the main entrance (the ones inside the site were closed for renovation when the page was read on 21 September 2026), small backpacks and handbags go in and large luggage does not, and no food is eaten inside. Where the coach stops for the Acropolis, for Plaka and for Syntagma, and where it waits, no official page states, and neither does the shade at midday: both are the driver’s practical orientation on the day. The Acropolis page prints the closed days and the free days; the hours by period, for choosing the slot:

  • 1 Apr to 31 Aug: 08:00 to 20:00, last entry 19:40
  • 1 Sep to 15 Sep: 08:00 to 19:30, last entry 19:10
  • 16 Sep to 30 Sep: 08:00 to 19:00, last entry 18:40
  • 1 Oct to 15 Oct: 08:00 to 18:30, last entry 18:10
  • 16 Oct to 31 Oct: 08:00 to 18:00, last entry 17:40
  • 1 Nov to 31 Mar: 08:00 to 17:00, last entry 16:40

Checked 8 Oct 2026, hh.gr.

Where does lunch happen, and what does the driver do meanwhile?

Lunch is at the group’s own expense, at the place the programme sets: on our full day it is in Plaka, inside the time planned there for the walk and the meal, and a group that wants one table for everyone says so in the request. At every stop the driver drops the group as close as the road allows, names the spot and the time to be back, and waits with the coach, through lunch as well; guiding inside the sites is the licensed guide’s work, as the section below says, and a group with its own escort from abroad finds the limit of what that escort may do in the driver-or-guide guide. Steps, shade and toilets at the stops outside the Acropolis no official page states, so the driver covers them on the road; the one exception is the Temple of Olympian Zeus, whose official page lists wheelchair access through the main entrance and accessible toilets on site.

Where does the day start, and how does it end for a cruise group?

Outside the exit of your ship’s terminal at Piraeus, where the driver holds a sign with the group’s name, or in the lobby of your hotel; the Piraeus meeting point names the three terminals, and the Piraeus port page works a call through hour by hour. A cruise group gives us the ship, its arrival and its all-aboard time, and the day is planned backwards from them: it ends 90 minutes before all-aboard, a margin we print instead of a promise, and the coach brings the group back to the terminal exit it left from. The one-day guide for Athens sets a call out stop by stop.

How do we ask, and what does the office need?

Through the request form on this page: the date, the number of guests, where the group starts and a contact, with the stops you have in mind in the notes; the request gets a reference at once, and the answer comes by email with the programme and the price per person. A travel agent, a school or the shore team of a cruise line uses the groups quote form instead, which takes the company, the programme and every further date. By email at info@greeceprivatetours.com or on WhatsApp at +30 6944803339 works too, and the Athens page lists every tour beside this one.

Driver or licensed guide

In Greece, guiding visitors in museums and archaeological sites is the work of state-qualified guides registered with the Ministry of Tourism (Law 5121/2024, Articles 33, 34 and 40). Our drivers are not guides: they drive, wait and give practical orientation on the road. We can book a licensed guide for you on request and quote the guide separately. Questions guests ask

From how many guests does the per-person price apply?

From 20 guests, where the coach band begins: the ticket prints the figure per person, the request form multiplies it by your party, and the office confirms it with the programme by email before anything is paid. A party of 8 to 19 travels in a minibus on the 8-hour private tour of Athens, priced per person from eight on its own table, and a party of 7 or fewer books one of the fixed Athens tours in a sedan or a minivan.

Is the Acropolis on the programme?

Where you put it: no fixed route is published for this tour yet, so the programme is agreed with the office from the stops of our Athens days. Where it includes the Acropolis, every guest needs a timed ticket for a one-hour entry slot, paid per person; the fee and the date we checked it are printed above, and the slot is the first thing the programme fixes.

Do we need a licensed guide for a group?

Not to enter. Guiding inside the Acropolis and the other sites is reserved to state-licensed guides by Law 5121/2024; our driver drives, waits and gives practical orientation. A guide for the group is booked through us on request and quoted separately; a guide travelling with you from another EU country may guide you outside the museums and the monuments that the law reserves.

Can a cruise group book it?

Yes. Give us the ship, its arrival and its all-aboard time and the number of guests; the driver waits outside the exit of your terminal at Piraeus with a sign, and the day is planned backwards from all-aboard with the margin the Piraeus page prints, which is why we print a margin and not a promise.

Where does lunch happen?

Where the programme puts it, at the group's own expense, with the driver waiting through it; on our full day in Athens lunch is in Plaka. A group that wants one table for everyone says so in the request, and the office answers with the plan.
